Hawk-Dove by Bea Nettles

I have spent hours photographing headstones of American veterans, using their family names to write about war and peace. The sheer number of individuals who have dedicated their efforts, and in many cases given their very lives is extraordinarily moving. Several of the graves documented in this book date back to the Civil War and the beginnings of our national cemetery system, and some are as recent as this year, 2013.
