
Victorian Sterling & Four Leaf Clover French Paste Pin
French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones. A fabulous French paste pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is in the shape of a lucky four leaf clover and encrusted with 22 sparkling closed back French paste stones. The stones are set in sterling silver and the pin has a 3-dimensional look. On the back of the piece is a large pin clasp with the original c-catch clasp. It is stamped "STERLING" along with the number "35". It's a fabulous and fun piece for any collector! Measurements: The paste pin measures 1 1/8" at the widest point, 1 1/4" at the tallest point and is 3/8" thick. Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent.
