Bread & Butter x Tressa Weidenaar - Canyon De Chelly Shawl Bundle

In the fall of 2024, I had the opportunity to take a group of 6th graders to Canyon De Chelly in Chinle, Arizona. We were able to take a guided hike to the bottom of the canyon. We learned so much about the canyon and spent time exploring the geology and saw traces of the early inhabitants. Many of the canyon walls have petroglyphs etched into them. It is always amazing to see these ancient art forms. This shawl was inspired by this canyon that was and is home to so many Navajo people. Early inhabitants grew crops, built homes, kept animals and lived rich lives here. Today there are still families that have homes here where fields of crops are growing and animals roam.
