
Iittala Alvar Aalto Collection Vases and Bowls
Design pioneer Alvar Aalto combined simple design with a craftsman’s expertise to create iconic pieces of home design that are functional and sculptural. Inspired by his native Finnish landscape, Aalto’s asymmetrical waves have been a timeless symbol of Scandinavian design since winning the 1937 Paris World Fair. Its fluid, organic form is still mouth blown today at the Iittala factory. It takes a team of seven skilled craftsmen working as one to create one Aalto vase – an icon of modern design. Each unique Aalto glass object goes through a multi-step production process at the Iittala Glass Factory. The crystal is mouthblown then the pieces are hand cut before going through several polishings. The 220mm-tall vase showcases long-stemmed flower bouquets perfectly while its clear color makes this decorative vase a versatile part of any home décor.
