Ammonites are a long extinct species of marine animals that once thrived when the desert land was covered in water. Interesting fact about these marine cephalopods is as they grew, they would build a new chamber around them sealing off the prior smaller chamber. Most would build the most common spiral chamber mostly flat yet few fossils were found to be more elaborate and massive. They would continue to create new walls adding chambers along their entire life span, living in the most recently created chamber.  as if upgrading to larger living quarters. So very cool, isn't it?
