Parkinson’s Disease & Sleep: Detection, Function & Overall Health
Webinar Description: Sleep disturbances affect more than 75% of people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) but are often under reported and under diagnosed with the circadian system playing a role in many physiological processes that may affect a person with PD during their rehabilitation process including: sleep, alertness and cognitive performance. This webinar will examine the common sleep disorders associated with PD and emerging research that suggests circadian function might have an important role in the progression of neurodegenerative disorders. We will further discuss how non-pharmacological and behavioral interventions, such as exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), can improve sleep quality and the overall health for our patients with PD. Instructor: Catherine Siengsukon, PhD, PT, DBSM, CHWC and Aleksandar Videnovic, MD Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to: Define two common sleep disorders associated with PD I
