
"The Hunger"
Fine Art Print Creating this painting was an incredibly prophetic experience. I began working on it in my West LA studio as an abstract. Huge swaths of Black lines and shapes became freeway overpasses. Blue washes and drips became a dramatic sky after an early morning thunderstorm. I began painting a Rhino in search for food near train tracks in what was becoming an urban DTLA streetscape. I stopped working on the piece for several weeks as I was suddenly facing the reality of having to relocate. After a few more weeks of contemplating new spaces, I moved to a large loft located in the Produce District of Downtown LA. I found myself in an entirely new terrain. I soon revisited this painting and found it to be eerily similar to the actual view from the rooftop of my new studio. It seemed as if I knew, or was somehow in cosmic tune that my path would lead me to this new environment.
