Ammonites (nicknamed snake stone) fossils are gorgeous and can be found all over the world! Ammonites were ocean-dwelling mollusks, specifically cephalopods. Ammonites' shells make the animals look most like nautiluses, but they are actually thought to be more closely related to colloids. These animals are known from the Jurassic Period, from about 200 million years ago, although they are thought to go back 450 million years ago. They died out approximately 66 million years ago. Metaphysically, ammonite have been  been associated with protection, stability, grounding, and creativity. They are also believed to hold the wisdom of ancient civilizations! Linked with sacred geometry, ammonites have iridescent hues of color on the fossil shells that actually evolved as a result of water trapped while the fossil was forming! This is a spectacular addition to anyone’s fossil collection!
