Description: When the zombies begin to swarm the cities and towns, the best course of action may be to retreat to an isolated refuge in the desert! This hideaway started with a quonset hut for the basic building. Then some modifications were added to help protect against any wandering zed that might find its way to the site. First, bits of rebar were welded over the windows to block access. The single door was sheathed with addition metal on the inside for added strength. Then, a simple wooden platform was constructed on the top of the building. A hatch was cut through the ceiling of the hut and a metal trapdoor that can be secured from inside was installed. This wood deck provides an alternative defensive platform. It offers an elevated firing position if needed. In addition, you can use some of the longer leftover pieces of the rebar as simple lances to stab at zombies who may gather at the base of the hut.
