Grumman F-14 Tomcat
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a supersonic, twin-engine, variable-sweep wing fighter jet designed for the US Navy. It served as a fleet defense interceptor, capable of long-range engagements and also performed tactical reconnaissance. The F-14 was the first of the "Teen Series" fighters, incorporating lessons learned from the Vietnam War. It was known for its variable-sweep wings, which allowed it to optimize performance at different speeds and altitudes. A total of 712 Grumman F-14 Tomcat aircraft were built. This number includes 632 aircraft for the U.S. Navy and 80 for Iran. Production spanned from 1969 to 1991.
