Silent Night by Joseph Brickey
About this Image:The night of Christ’s birth was during Passover, and it being lambing season, the shepherds would need to be awake and out by night, keeping careful watch over the births of the new lambs, especially those that would be used for temple sacrifices (the shepherd’s fields of Bethlehem provided many of the sacrificial lambs for nearby Jerusalem). While watching his flock, this shepherd boy wonders at the new star in the heavens. It is a sign that God also watches His flock by night. Though to mortal ears this may be a silent night, the heavens witness it is also a holy night.About the Artist:JOSEPH F.
