Sacramento photographer David Spagnolo uses large format contact prints which produce a sharpness and depth. By virtue of his process, Spagnolo has eliminated the prospect of editing, instead returning to the same locations allowing time and environment to do the editing; the result is a crisp repetition with subtle variations that push past representation back into abstraction.
