These silver deniers, also known as pennies, were issued in honor of King Bohemond III (1163-1201), who met Richard of England (Lion Heart) as well as Guy de Lusignan (Famously depicted by Marton Csokas in the 2005 Hollywood Blockbuster 'Kingdom of Heaven') during the siege of Acre in the summer of 1191. King Bohemond was also part of the Third Crusade, in which three European monarchs, including Richard of England, tried to take back the Holy Land from Saladin, from 1189 to 1192. The coins offered were minted in Antioch, (In modern day South Eastern Turkey) captured in 1098 during the First Crusade. The obverse of the
