*Note: Unlike most of our items, this product does not come with a display case, as the tooth is too large to fit inside* History of the Artifact The Spinosaurus (“Spine Lizard”) is a genus of Spinosaurid dinosaur which inhabited North Africa between the Cenomanian and Late Cretaceous Period. The first complete fossil profile of the Spinosaurus was discovered in 1912 by German Paleontologist Ersnt Stromer. These remains were unfortunately destroyed in World War II during the allied bombing campaign of Dresden. Recent estimates of the creature suggest it had length of 46 feet (15 meters), and weighed 8.2 tons, making the Spinosaurus one of the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to walk the earth. Most modern researchers support the thesis that the Spinosaurus was a semiaquatic dinosaur which ate both land and aquatic animals.
