I've been thinking a lot about the necessary bridges that will be needed to shrink the gap between lawn lovers and pollinator lovers. Ecologists have tried for decades to make conservation sexy and now I'm taking a stab at it too. It's not enough to explain that the monotony of a lawn is bad. What we need to do is show how the naturalists are actually the cool kids. All butterflies pictured are from North America, including the gorgeous and endangered California pipevine swallowtail.
