Antique French 18k Gold Pique Tortoise Shell Case, Purse or Cigar - Splendid, with orignal leather case "A A"
So rare to find one of these with the matching original outer protective presentation case with it, and subsequently to find it in such superb condition, as well. The fine old toroise shell in rich and elegantly shined, unwarped and perfect to use for your glasses, or for an evening bag if you so choose. Not fitted out inside, you can use it for a variety of purposes, not the least of which is just to display and thrill over it. The monogram is beautifully accomplished in script, and is "A A" matching the outer case. The interior cartouche, however, is 18k gold (unmarked, but tested). We are quite certain this is a French mid-1800s case. Very good to excellent condition, one 1" long hairline almost looks like it's more a flaw to the original shell than damage, but we will point it out for your review.
