Keimfleck's Dionysus Collection is inspired by the symbolic themes of drama, ecstasy, harvest, and revelry associated with Dionysus, the god of wine in ancient Greek mythology. The collection features three accessory pieces: Golden Goblet, Semele, and Lamb. Dionysus was the son of Zeus and Semele, a princess of Thebes. Zeus was enamored by Semele’s beauty, which provoked the jealousy of his wife, Hera. Disguising herself as Semele’s handmaiden, Hera deceitfully urged the princess to ask Zeus to reveal his true divine form as proof of his love. Bound by his promise, Zeus appeared before Semele in his full godly splendor, but his divine radiance was fatal to mortals. Unable to withstand the overwhelming power, Semele perished in lightning and fire. However, Zeus managed to save the unborn child from her womb, sewing him into his own thigh until he reached full term.
