Fairy opal is a composite stone composing of natural materials pressed together with opals for flash and treated to stabilize. The opals used are generally too small to be useful in most instances but can be extremely opalescent (flashy) ; this process prevents them from going to waste otherwise. This lot has a mix of colors for flash.
