Natalia Nakazawa, Visual Heteroglossia: Infinite Flooding, Infinite Burning, 2021; Limited Edition Print

Natalia Nakazawa is a Queens-based, interdisciplinary artist working across the mediums of painting, textiles and social practice. Her woven tapestries, painted panels and works on paper serve as accumulation points for materials culled from the past, present, and future. The artist received her MFA from the California College of the Arts, and has exhibited work at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Honolulu Biennial, Honolulu; CUE Art Foundation, New York; and The Arlington Arts Center, Washington, D.C.; among many others.  Infinite Flooding, Infinite Burning stems from Nakazawa’s Visual Heteroglossia series, which explores the orthographic and architectural configurations often found in manuscript and Persian miniature paintings. These frameworks depart from the Western one-point perspective, allowing viewers to place themselves at a variety of scales and locations.
