Artist: Samuel Bell Waugh; 1869 Painted shortly after being elected as President of the United States this shows the newly elected President in his military uniform which reflects what most Americans must have thought about their new President. One of my memories about Memorial Day 2020, May 25; the day George Floyd was murdered, was begining to watch the History Channel series on Ulysses S. Grant. I remember that the Constitutional Convention was supposed to begin in the middle of May in 1787, however not enough delegates were able to make it to Philidelphia and they failed to reach a quarum. It was not until the end of may on May 25, 1787 that enough delegates had arrived in Philadelphia and the Constitutional Convention began. I have found that the story of our More Perfect Union is a long one and is full of injustices and wrongs that later become more right as time goes on. May 25th is a specific date on the calendar that is already historical and will continue to be a historica
