Shingle moulding was originally used as a rake on a building or as a frame around exterior windows. Shingle moulding with its decorative shape is also widely used as a larger panel moulding. Because of its thickness, shingle makes an excellent decorative edge for thicker raised panels on doors and walls. Measure and cut shingle moulding at a 45 angle, frame it up with the edges of a nice plywood and you have an instant beautiful raised panel. Finish with stain or paint for the custom look.
