iOptron iCAM178M Mono Camera
The iCAM178M camera features a Sony IMX178 monochrome sensor, boasting an imaging area of 1/1.8 inches and a 2.4um pixel size. It offers a 6.4MP resolution with dimensions of 3096 by 2078 pixels, and a diagonal measurement of 9mm. Known for its impressive sensitivity, this camera excels in planetary imaging applications. With remarkably low readout noise—measured as low as 1.34 electrons at 350 gain—it promises excellent image quality. Additionally, the iCAM178M incorporates unique Dead Pixel Suppression (DPS) technology that works by analyzing dark frames to weed out any abnormal or dead pixels. Another standout feature is the High Conversion Gain (HCG) mode, which activates automatically when the camera's gain is set above 30. This mode significantly minimizes readout noise while maintaining the camera's high dynamic range. When hooked up to a USB3.0 port and set to full-resolution preview, the iCAM178M can achieve up to 60 FPS in RAW8 mode, thanks to its 10-bit ADC. However, the a
