Sun Spots

Oil on canvas. Each piece measures 14 x 11 inches (35.6 x 27.9 cm) and framed: 15.5 x 12.5 inches each (39.4 x 31.8 cm).  From the Artist:"Sun Spots" is a bright, sunny painting. This sweet set has been shown at the Longwood Center for Visual Arts, a museum in Virginia. The Abstract Landscape series grew from my early love of nature—and the influence of artists like Monet and Van Gogh. I’ve always been drawn to capturing the emotional pull of a landscape: its light, movement, and quiet intensity. These works often feature ocean horizons, tree forms, or watery reflections, painted in layers of oil and acrylic. I use brushes, knives, sponges—even unexpected tools—to shape each scene. A balance of light and dark, softness and structure, gives each piece its own mood. These landscapes feel both familiar and imagined—like memories you can’t quite place. They’ve become the foundation for much of my work, echoing through other series like Dreamscape and Shangri La.
