1935 DeSoto Airflow Coupe 

(ADOPT-A-CAR PROGRAM) The DeSoto Airflow, produced from 1934-1936 by the Chrysler Corporation, was a truly groundbreaking automobile. This 1935 DeSoto was originally owned by Carl Breer, co-head of Chrysler engineering. Breer is recognized by historians as the father of the modern automobile. The DeSoto Airflow was the first automobile to be tested in a wind tunnel. It was the first car to utilize uni-body construction, which greatly increased structural rigidity. This DeSoto was used by Chrysler as a test mule and was periodically updated for their needs. The Airflow was attractively priced at just over $1,000. Of the 27,581 DeSoto Airflows produced in 1935, just 418 were the two-door coupe body style, such as this meticulously restored example seen here.
