But back in the 70’s and 80’s the Grim Reapers flew F-14’s with the first fighter getting accepted by the VF-101 in 1976. This particular F-14B BuNo 162923 became the C/O’s aircraft when it joined the squadron. He had the aircraft painted with bright red markings and other crews named it "Tomato".
