Additive Techniques (Glassblowing 3)
Prerequisites: Intro to GlassblowingInstructor: Henrik JorgensenGlassblowing 3 aims to build on the foundations of Introduction to Glassblowing, and Glassblowing 2 by incorporating decorative techniques. Working exclusively with clear furnace glass, students will learn from a selection of the following topics: how to apply various types of handles, wraps, and bits. This class will apply the basic principles of heat/mass learned in previous classes and use the basic forms as a canvas for applying decorations. A primary goal of this class is equipping the student with an understanding of particular heat management to retain texture and details in the decorations. Students will be challenged to manage both on-center and off-center or asymmetrical objects. Glassblowing is a team activity, all students will work with each other to achieve these goals. It is highly encouraged that students take notes during class.
