German Enameled Metal Soap Bucket Circa 1900
An enameled antique soap bucket with the German word Seife in old script for soap on the front. The body of the bucket is slightly ovoid. It has a handle with three rivets and a hole for hanging. The body has been painted with white enamels, with blue lettering and edging around the mouth. The base is flat and enameled. MEASUREMENTS 5” (12.7 cm) wide x 4 1/8” (10.5 cm) deep x 6 ¾” (17.1 cm) tall. Weighs 8.7 oz (245 g) CONDITION There are no breaks, cracks, or dents. There are two enamel chips on the edge of the base and two on the back of the handle. There are also smaller enamel losses on the mouth rim and around the handle. There is an enamel loss inside the bucket on a bottom edge. There is rusting adjacent to these chips, as well as along the rim and the edges of the handle. A great enamel piece from Germany to add to a collection, use in the bathroom or kitchen to actually hold soap, or as a cachepot for a plant.
