A colorful Victorian aesthetic movement plate design patterned after travel in a sailboat on the sea.   The central transfer design is of a sailing vessel with large sunflower-inspired geometric flowers appearing to grow out of the frame. The flower heads are integrated into an intricate border. The design is in various shades of brown on a cream-colored glaze.   The lightweight ceramic has been molded with a shallow well and has a shallow rounded unglazed foot. A mark on the base reads BROWNFIELD & SONS TRADEMARK WISCONSIN and a pair of globes. There are also three marks stamped in the clay.   MEASUREMENTS   9 3/8” (23.7 cm) diameter x 7/8” (2.2 cm) deep. Weighs 1 lb 2.3 oz (520 g)   CONDITION   There are no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs. There is mild to moderate crazing to the glaze along with several uneven brown spots. The glaze and foot feel very smooth and worn.   A rich and decorative Victorian plate to add age and richness to a room.
