Bird of Paradise Art on Canvas in a Saffron/Orange Bijou Frame. Bird of Paradise or Crane Flower is a species of flowering plant indigenous to South Africa. It is an evergreen perennial and widely cultivated for its dramatic flowers. In temperate areas it's popular as a houseplants.  These plants are pollinated by sunbirds that use the spathe as a standing perch when visiting the flowers. The weight from bird on spathe opens to release pollen onto its feet which is then deposited into next flower it visits.   This species generally needs hand pollination in regions where there are no sunbirds or other natural insect pollinators.
