Giant African Lily

Giant African Lily sometimes called St. Christopher's Lily is characterized by its large green spreading leaves and large white flowers.  It is a variable species that occurs in tropical Africa. Leaves may be broad in some forms and narrow in others. Some of the species' flowers are quite fragrant, smelling strongly like vanilla.  These plants can be found in swampy conditions, seasonal wetlands, or in grasslands/savannas. It can be found naturalized in parts of South America.
