RARE! 1916 The Lost Star: An Idyll of the Desert by David DeForest Burrell - ANTIQUE Book - Three Wise Men - Christmas - Bethlehem
A short novel that tells the tell of one of the Three Wise Men who wanders from his journey to "the King whose star they follow." In its year of publication, The Bookseller, Newsdealer, & Stationer industry journey (probably their version of Publisher's Weekly) noted The Lost Star as a gift purchase for the holidays. They said at the time... "A book made for gift purposes during hte holiday season is "The Lost Star: An Idyll of the Desert," by David De Forest Burrell. It concerns the spiritual romance of one of the three Wise Men, whose early vision more than once obscures the Star which he is following." The slim 16mo is bound in decorated art boards, illustrated with dainty frontispiece. Every page has a border in lavender tint. (25 cents)" This version of the book does not have a 'border in lavender tint," so we're not sure it's a first edition, but it's still a fine addition to any antique book collection.
