Selective Mutism (SM) is a complex, anxiety-based disorder that requires a comprehensive, individualized treatment approach. The DIR®-SM Program integrates the Developmental, Individual Differences, and Relationship-Based (DIRFloortime®) framework to support individuals with SM in progressing toward verbal communication. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDCs) speaking hierarchy, guiding participants through each stage of communication—from non-speaking to verbal engagement. Participants will learn effective intervention strategies, including the Systematic Sound Sequencing Strategy (SSSS), which encourages sound production and two-way communication. Through this course, participants will be able to: 1.  Accurately identify the child's Functional Emotional Developmental Capacity with regard to their Selective Mutism 2.  Describe the most commonly occurring individual differences seen in children with Selective Mutism 3.
