Carex elata 'Aurea' (Bowles Golden) Commonly known as Tufted Sedge or Bowles' Golden Sedge, this grass has yellow leaves with dark green margins that grow in dense mounded tufts and are perfect for the shaded areas of your garden. Leaves grow up to 30" long, which allows this sedge to dramatically arch on the ground. Inconspicuous flowers appear in late spring (May - June) above the grassy leaves.  Plant in full shade to part shade as this grass will do well in shady woodland areas. Prefers soil to be moist and does not like to dry out. Deer resistant and attractive to butterflies, this sedge is perfect for helping with erosion control.  Wonderful when mass planted along ponds and streams. Also a great option at the front of borders, in rock gardens and in containers when kept well watered. A dramatic accent when planted as a specimen plant. Combinations of Tulips, Lady's Mantle, Iris and Primula all make excellent companion plantings.  Arrives to you in a gallon-sized pot.
