Physocarpus opulifolius  Ninebark is a family of native or cultivated native shrubs that grow moderately to 8-10' tall and wide. Noted for it's versatility, it features flaky bark on its mature branches that peel away to reveal inner layers of deeper reddish brown bark, hence it's name.  Pale pink to white small 5-petaled flowers appear on clusters in May and last until peak July heat. Flowers give way to fruit and leaves eventually turn to a darker green and then yellow in fall. A good, reliable pollinating native shrub for your garden. Plant Ninebark in full sun to part shade, in nearly any soil condition. Common Ninebark is a compact grower and will typically only reach 8 feet tall and wide. Tolerate of drought, erosion, clay soil, dry soil, wet soil, and black walnut toxins. Deer and rabbits typically avoid Ninebark. Arrives to you in a 2 gallon pot, about 3-4' tall.
