Peridot's color ranges from yellow-green to olive green to dark green. Peridot is rich in magnesium and has an iron content that gives the gemstone its green coloring. The meaning of Peridot is purpose and focus.  Peridot is found deep inside the earth's crust and usually reaches the surface due to volcanic eruptions.  Most gemstones are formed in the Earth's crust. However, Peridot is formed in the Earth's mantle. The only other gemstone that is formed in the same place is diamonds, making Peridot a rare and unique gemstone.  In the past, some Peridots have been discovered in meteorites that have landed on earth, making this gemstone highly rare and not likely to be found very often.  Peridot has been found at meteorite crash sites, meaning that the gemstone exists in space. The gemstones are also found in lava deposits. Peridot comes from an island in the Red Sea, close to the Pharaoh shores of Egypt. In the Greek tongue, the island was called Topazios, which is their name for Perid
