Waist length, long sleeve pullover in a drapey knit, naturally dyed with woad. Woad, a perennial herb, has been used as a dye since ancient times. Like indigo, the leaves ferment in the dye bath and produce their blue hues upon oxidation. The molecular structure of the dye and the fabric all affect the way the dye adheres. Natural dyes are non-toxic and free from the harsh chemicals and toxins present in many synthetic dyes, they have less impact on the environment, the people working with the dyes, and those wearing them, too. *One beauty of natural dyes are their variation between garments and dye batches, each piece will be slightly or wildly different and will change over time.
