Aechmea 'Vaquero'

Aechmea Vaquero is a cross of maculata x pineliana v. minuta. An impressive Hybrid that has a tight, upright tube shape similar to it's parent pineliana. It has large spines and the leaves have bold, red banding. Although the yellow flowers with showy red bracts, it is the leaf shape, banding and color that is the most attractive asset of this plant. average size is about 16" in height. This desirable cross can withstand full sun if gradually introduced to a little more time in the sun each day. It will achieve it's maximum coloration in strong light.
