The good news is that it can be identified quickly by using a finger pulse oximeter that anyone can carry in their first aid kit. This device will tell you specifically how saturated the hemoglobin is in your blood in a percentage, the target being 100%. Anything from 95%-100% is considered normal. Anything below 93% could be an indication that someone needs emergency oxygen and anything lower could be considered a medical emergency.
