For me, having a brewing background, I found it surprisingly reminiscent of mixed culture saison, the beer style I was always most passionate about. It was actually upon considering what I loved most about saison, the romance, the reverence for the land and seasonality, that ultimately lead to my epiphany that perhaps I was meant to be a winemaker all along. A very personal anecdote, but it is exemplary of the type of contemplation this style seems to provoke. The skins of aromatic white grapes have so many stories to tell - so much character to give.
