THE GRAVITY OF SORROW by artist Ulla Anobile

Paper mache, found wood, acrylics, lace, 13” x 5 1/2” About the piece:  As I was working on this piece, I pondered about sorrow, something that’s been part of my life, in various degrees, for the past couple of years. And I was thinking that yes, loss, sorrow, and grief carry with them a sense of gravity that presses down on you for a long, long time, holding you in its grip. But - my experience anyway - those feelings do slowly transform into a vast sense of emptiness in which you find yourself swimming. And then, slowly, it all turns into a new, freeing sense of lightness.
