Opuntia macrocentra is a very cold hardy cactus from the Western USA that has large thick pads that turn dark purple in cool weather. This version has very large curling pads that can get to be 14 inches wide. And older spread can grow to 2 meters wide by 70cm tall with dozens of large pads. Opuntia macrocentra has 2 inch wide lemon yellow flowers with red centers in the spring. This cactus loves full sunlight and is cold hardy to at least 10 degrees F.
