Choice Very Fine Roman Empire denarius coin. Struck for Emperor Hadrian, possibly at an Eastern Mint (based on font style and blundered obverse legend), 134-138 CE. RIC 267, RSC 1334, Approx 19mm.  Certified by NGC to Ch VF.  Obverse: HADRIANVI (final "I" should be "S") AVG COS III PP, bare head right. Reverse: SALVS AVG, Salus standing right feeding snake coiled about altar. Salus was the goddess of safety and welfare. Her temple on the Quirinal at Rome, dedicated in 302 BC, was the scene of an annual sacrifice on August 5.
