Choice Almost Uncirculated Roman Empire silver denarius coin. Struck for Empress Faustina Sr. at the Rome Mint. Faustina Jr. was the wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius and Mother-in-Law of Marcus Aurelius. Very appealing lustrous example with outstanding portrait. S-4584, RIC 362, RSC 104, 3.52g.     Posthumous commemorative issued 151 to 157 CE by her devoted husband Emperor Antoninus Pius. Sear states that the posthumous issues without AVGVSTA were issued after 147 CE and most likely 151/2 and 156/7 CE to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her death and the dedication of her temple. Obverse: DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust right. Reverse: AVGVSTA, Ceres standing left holding long torch and supporting fold of drapery with left hand.
