Emperor Caracalla Roman Empire silver denarius coin. Issued 199 CE while Co-Emperor with Septimius Severus (his Father). Approx. 18mm, 3.32g, RIC 27a (rated as Scarce) variety, RSC 406 variety. Certified by NGC to Ch AU, well struck with detailed treatment of Caracalla in military dress with Parthian captive below. Historic type issued to celebrate Rome's victories over Parthia. Apparently unpublished obverse portrait with draped/cuirassed bust. Obverse: IMP CAES M AVR ANTON AVG, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust of emperor facing right. Reverse: PONTIFEX TR P II, Caracalla in military dress standing left holding Victory on globe & reversed spear, Parthian captive seated at feet.
