According to Tantric spiritual traditions, our root chakra grounds us to the Earth and provides a solid foundation for stability and security. Trees are firmly rooted in the ground and are a symbol for our own connection to the Earth. It is said that when your root chakra is balanced, you feel like you are thriving rather than just surviving. The "Gaia" paintings developed out of an accident of spilled paint on the floor. I noticed the beautiful patterns in the puddle, and didn't want the paint to go to waste. I pushed a canvas into the wet paint, and discovered a whole new world of amazing patterns and designs. Since that epiphany, I have developed these paintings through the use of precise pull techniques and surfactants added to the paint. I continue to be amazed by the variety of art I can create this way, and each painting is completely unique and surprising.
