USDA Cold Hardiness Zone: 5 Native Range: East Asia. Soil: Consistently moist, not soggy. Neutral pH. Light: Full sun to light shade. Height in the Garden: Up to 45'  Attributes: Broadleaf, deciduous, small tree that is fantastic in the landscape and for bonsai culture.  Notes: This will make a metium size, with fast taper and good roots. The trees in this batch are planted low to encourage root development. It has a really wide base and can be cut back even more to develop even faster taper. The trees were cut back early August, 2025 to encourage backbudding. Needs wound treatment; they close quickly with cut paste and vigorous growth. Uses: Medium to small size bonsai tree.
