Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products were a highlight of the 1990's Chalk Line portfolio of licensed product. The TMNT Popsicle Retro Shorts are inspired by one of our favorite ice cream bars growing up. The TMNT franchise began as a comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It debuted in 1984 and was a surprise success. In 1987, Eastman and Laird licensed the characters to Playmates Toys to develop a line of Turtles action figures, which became another success; between 1988 and 1992, $1.1 billion of Turtles toys were sold, making them one of the bestselling toy figures ever.
