'SHAWNEE CHIEF' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'swawnee chief')

A large-flowered, ruby-red to garnet, fully-double peony of distinguished pedigree. 'Shawnee Chief' is an heirloom variety with fine textured foliage and a sturdy upright habit. The red holds up well even in bright sun and its stiff stems make this a choice variety for cut-flower culture and is one of the better selections for cold storage. Early mid-season bloom time. Height to 36". (Bigger, 1940). Heirloom Zones 3-8 Bare roots available only in LATE FALL through EARLY SPRING. We do not ship potted peonies.
