'SILENUS' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'silenus')

Early mid-season blooming, SEMI-DOUBLE, 8-inch flowers are light-pink to coral, upward-facing, and average one to two per stem. Guard petals are frilled. No fragrance noted. Plants reach 30" at maturity and carry broad-pointed, green foliage with undertones of purple. Foliage at time of emergence is reddish-green. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Presents good potential for cut-flower production. Named for the half-man, half-beast mentor of Dionysus from Greek mythology.
