Auguste Clape, Cornas 2006
96 Points CellarTracker Terrific Cornas. Decanted an hour prior to dinner and needed it. Glossy bright red color with no sign of age. This loved a dry aged steak as the tannins were still apparent although not disturbing the enjoyment. With time a deep blackberry was evident. This sung of violets! What amazing aromas. I could just smell this for an hour. Good acidity. Earth, iron, light menthol , herbs. This is still a firm wine with lots of time ahead but still very enjoyable now. Love it. 94 points Wine Advocate The 2006 Cornas from Clape is still youthful and lively, and shows classic notes of dark fruits (blackberries, currants), spiced meats and cedary herbs in a beautifully concentrated, medium to full-bodied, ripe and textured package that plays perfectly into the style of the vintage. You can still feel the tannin, yet they're ripe and sweet, and there's ample fruit, texture and length. This beauty is a classic Cornas that will drink well for another 10-15 years or more
